Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

When patients tell me they are extremely fatigued in an ongoing way, I usually check the following things:

1. Thyroid function (TSH, free thyroxine): these blood tests can show if there is a thyroid problem as that can cause fatigue.

2. CBC: If there is anemia, that will show as low hemoglobin. If there is infection, that can show as changes in white blood cell counts.

3. Blood glucose levels: to check for diabetes.

4. How are you sleeping?: Sleep apnea or other problems with sleep quality can cause daytime fatigue.

Now about the heaviness in your chest: that is likely a separate problem. If you feel as though there is pressure in your chest, you should be seen now for a heart evaluation. It is unusual for women your age to have a cardiac problem causing chest pressure, but not impossible, so you should go directly to be seen where they can do an EKG and cardiac enzymes/troponin levels drawn.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
