Yes,hypothrodism may also cause hair fall but needs to be evaluated further
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome to health care magic,
I have read your query and understand the concern.
Hair loss (alopecia) is the medical description of the loss of hair from the head or body, sometimes to the extent of baldness. A loss of 80 to 100 hairs per day could be considered as a normal.
There are different reasons for hair loss like,
1) improper hair care result in excessive hair loss,
2) hereditary thinning or balding,
3) combing and brushing too often can also damage hair or
4) in certain diseases like diabetes, lupus and thyroid disorders.
In short, hair fall could be related to multiple factors like diet, nutrition, certain diseases, hormones, stress or using cosmetic products.
You should rule out anemia by doing complete blood count and iron profile.
Vitamin D and B12 level should also be checked. Thyroid function tests should be done to rule out hypothyroidism.
Also, you said about large neck but that does not necessarily mean that you would have goiter or some thyroid issue. However,it must be evaluated further by some routine blood works and thyroid functions tests as i said.
Ultrasound of neck (thyroid region) might give some clue.
So,you should consult dermatologist who will know about all these tests and can help to detect the underlying cause hair fall since 7 years.
Hope this detailed information will be helpful.
