Suggest Treatment For Mood Swings Caused By PMS
Consultation
Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.
There are two modes of treatment for PMT.
First, antidepressants are the most effective treatment. Weight gain in large-scale clinical trials shows average weight gain of 5 pounds or less with continuous treatment. Another method is to take antidepressants only on the week prior to menstruation, which cuts down on the risk of weight gain considerably. I'd suggest this latter method for you. You will need to get a prescription from your local doctor for the same.
Second, hormonal treatment including birth control is very effective, but not ideal if you want to conceive (though you are up in years to be thinking about conception, it is possible, so I mention it).
