Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. I'm sorry to hear about your cough and the blood that you have found. I'd like to know a little bit more about your medical history and the situation that you are in before I can begin to put together a plan of action on how to tackle this. So please go over the queries I have written below and try and answer them to the best of you ability. Any information you can give me will be helpful.

1. When did your cough start? How did it start?

1a. When does the cough get worse? At night? During the day?

1b. Does the cough produce any phlegm? If so what is the smell and the color?

1c. Do you feel short of breath when you cough?

2. Did the cough start from the very beginning with blood in it? Or was it dry? Or a wet cough perhaps?

2a. How much blood came up? A few drops, etc?

3. Is the cough associated with any pain in the chest?

4. Have you had a fever before or after this cough started?

5. Have you noticed any weight loss since this cough started?

6. Do you take any regular medications?

7. Do you have any pre-existing medical conditions?

8. Do you know if you have been exposed to anyone with Tuberculosis or any other infectious disease?

9. Do you smoke?

10: Have you had any recent medical testing? Blood work, x-rays etc? If so, can you upload the results to me?

If you can give me this basic info, I can work with you on managing the issue. I look forward to your reply.

Brief Answer:
Nose Bleeds are easy to deal with

Detailed Answer:
Hey XXXXXXX whew, a nose bleed is an easy thing to deal with.

When you have a cold, the delicate blood vessels in the nose will get inflamed and tend to bleed.

Here is what you need to do.

1. Make sure you are not sleeping in cold dry air. Try and get a humdifier so the air you breath in is not dried up. Alternatively you can do steam inhalation on a regular basis.

2. Take an antihistamine medication which will clear up the nostrils and allow the airflow through them to be less turbulent. Medications like Sinarest, etc are the best for that

Try these things for a few days. Overall, a few nosebleeds here and there when you have a cold are not really serious. You have nothing to worry about.

I hope this helps,

Vinay
