Suggest Treatment For Pain And Itching Behind The Left Ear
Question: hello doctor. i have pain, itching and yellow deposit in my left ear since day before yesterday. today i can feel some pain in my left jaw and area around same ear. Please advise.

From your complaints it looks like that you may be having a left ear infection called as otitis externa.
Most common cause for this infection is bacteria and antibiotics like amoxicillin or cloxacillin can be very effective in treating the same.
I would normally also prescribe an antibiotic ear drop like ciprofloxacin ear drops 2 drops 4-5 times a day for taking care of the infection.
The pain around the ear is due to the infection and will subside once the infection resolves.
I would also like you to keep the ear dry and avoid water from entering the ear as this will increase the infection.
Lastly for the pain you can take paracetamol 650mg 2-3 three times a day.

thank you doctor. i have started taking amoxicillin 250mg with ear drops as advised. but there is swelling and pain around the ear which is persistent. it increases when i talk or eat something with jaw movement. i am feeling little feverish as well. please advise.

Secondly it will take atleast 2 to 3 days for the infection to subside , so you will have to wait till then.
If the swelling does not subside or the fever or pain increases even after 48 hours then I would like you to meet your doctor and get yourself examined.
