Better to consult orthopedic doctor and get done MRI cervical spine.

I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of cervical spine related pain is more.
Your pain is not continuous. It is intermittent.
Usually pleuritic pain is continuous type of pain which is worsening with breathing and coughing.
So better to first rule out cervical spine related pathology for this pain.
So consult orthopedic doctor and get done clinical examination and MRI of cervical spine.

I thought about a cervical spine problem - I had a MVA abt 30 years ago and had a C4,c5 and c6 bulge but nothing since then and I haven't injured it recently. I forgot to tell you that I have a trach due to life-threatening sleep apnea and this causes coughing and I also have chronic bronchitis which causes even deeper coughing. I just cant understand why the cervical spine problem would radiate to my throat and stomach....?? Thanks for your speedy response - I appreciate it......XXXX
