Brief Answer:
No worries
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
With newly implanted IUD, menstrual flow irregularities is a very common side effect and is due to new hormonal imbalance your wife's body is adjusting too. Its the game of hormones her body is play and is trying to get used to . Give it some time to adjust. A month or two, a few cycles will be irregular and then it iwll be back to normal. Nothing to be alarmed about.
I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Wife says there was no bleeding until after she had sex with husband so she is concerned if that is a problem?
Brief Answer:
Get tested for infections
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me
Post coital bleed can happen in genital tract infections like cervicitis common with IUDs and that can explain all her symptoms. IUDs on itself can cause post coital bleed. If she is not comfortable with this mode of contraception, you both can switch to other modes like condoms, pills, diaphragms etc.
I hope it helps.
