Tested Negative For Flu. Having Mild Fever, Chills, Sore Throat And White Spots On Hard Palate. Reason?
Question: 10 year old daughter went to dr three days ago with cough, low grade temp, runny nose, congestion. Flu test came back negative. Dr thought just asthma problems. Yesterday she started getting chills, complaining of sore throat, especially when eating. Temp around 100. Face was very red yesterday. Throat isn't red but her tongue is coated and seems to have white spots/patches on her soft and hard palate. Said she can feel bumps on the back of her tongue too.
Hi, welcome and thanks for writing in.
Your daughter is definitely suffering from infection either sinusitis or pharyngitis. The bump on posterior aspects and related symptoms of mouth may be a post nasal drip due to sinusitis or swelling due to pharyngitis. Hope your physician had started antibiotic 3 days before.
You need to visit again your physician and get evaluated. This symptoms doesn't seems due to asthma. She needs few blood investigation and antibiotics therapy . Before hand clinical examination of chest is necessary to rule out any infection in lung.
Hope I have addressed your query. If you have further concern , please let me know.
Regards.
