Uncircumcised Child Is Having White Pus On Penis Tip. How To Cure This?

Question: My son is 2 years old he has a white pus on the tip of his penis where the urine comes out. He is not yet circumsized. He feels pain on the site and there is also a bit of redness and swelling. How can i relieve the pain? Can i clean his penis? How?

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Your son seems to be suffering from some infection there. It could be urinary tract infection or urethritis or some infection there.

Pain relief can be done with simple paracetamol. Cleaning the local are is not going to solve the problem.

You should consult your doctor for a local examination. After necessary investigations (including a urine examination and urine for culture and sensitivity) depending on the examination findings antibiotics may be started by your doctor.

Could it be due to process of separation?? Since he is not circumcised?

Thanks for your reply.

Swelling and redness are suggestive of infection. If the foreskin is with drawn back one should just see smegma .

Foreskin should not be separated and withdrawn in young children. It happens naturally on its own when he grows up.

If foreskin is withdrawn forcefully in young children it leads to infection.

The skin was not withdrawn forcefully.. Can this heal up on its own? Bec i am in china right now i cant seem to find anyone who understands english..

In view of the age of your child, the pain he is having, the redness, swelling and pus that is coming out I do not think you should just wait.
