What Are The Symptoms Of Down's Syndrome?
Question: Dear sir,
My baby is 45 days old and she sticks out her tongue sometimes and i read somewhere it is a sign of down syndrome..is it true?
till now none of the doctors told us that she has any sign of down syndrome
my question is
how to detect down syndrome after baby is born?
is sticking tongue out sign of down syndrome?
can appearance of the child enough for detecting down syndrome in routine practice?
also i had a paternity dna testing after she was born as my wife had iui...
can that report detect down syndrome also? there is nothing written in that report?

Sticking out of tongue is quite commonly seen in normal newborn babies. As the baby has been seen by doctors, they would definitely would have picked up other signs of Down's syndrome. The cause is unlikely to be due to Down's syndrome. Other possibility that needs to be considered in Hypothyroidism.
I would suggest you the following
1. Routine consultation with your Pediatrician would be very reassuring. Only presence of tongue sticking out is not enough clinical criteria for making clinical diagnosis of Down's syndrome. The face of child is typical in down's syndrome and will rarely be missed by experienced Paediatrician. As the child is born from IUI, it would been Obstetrician and team of Paediatrician, so unlikely something significant could have been missed.
2. Karyotyping can be done two rule out if there is clinical suspicion of it.
3. Paternity report is only for matching genetic makeup and chromosomal abnormalities of baby will not be mentioned

If doctors have not told or doubted Down syndrome then I hope there is no need for testing ?
There is a report attached ? What does this report mean
Appearance wise there is no sign of Down syndrome except that sometimes baby takes out her tongue for a while

Many of the babies do get out the tongue, which they usually do when they are hungry. It is normal finding in majority of babies, no further testing is required if there are no other signs.
