
What Causes Artery Partial Covered By A Muscle Bridge?

Question: My LAD artery is partial covered by a muscle bridge and may be causing angina . Can this problem be surgically corrected? I am currently taking norvasc to help with the problem. However I continue to have pressure present in the a effected area. I notice the pressure when I am involed in aerobic activities ie hiking on a incline. As soon as I stop the pressures ceases but reoccurs as i continue.

Such type of cases where artery is overlapped by muscle is called as myocardial bridging ( MB )
In general,once diagnosed as case of MB,the treatment option is medical therapy only.
In case the symptoms are not relieved by medications and the narrowing is more than 70% as revealed by coronary angiography,then the treatment offered is stenting in general but in some cases myotomy or internal mamnary graft can also be considered.
You must consult a cardiologist and discuss about the proper investigations and management.
