I am scheduled to have the following: Right Thoracotomy, Resection of Esophageal Diverticulum, Heller myotomy and Hiatal Hernia repair. I have had an esophageal diverticulum for over 20 years which was small 2 cm. Now I am a 53 year old woman who has been experiencing extreme pressure and after esophagram was done the diverticulum is now 8-9 cm and is causing stricture in my esophagus. I am looking to get another opinion as I am extremely afraid and am wondering is there anything other than the above to fix this problem.
