What Causes Delayed Menstruation With Abdominal Cramps, Dizziness, Bloating And Frequent Urination?

Question: I am going on 5 days of my missed period. My periods are always on time according to my app on my phone that I keep track on. Every 27-29 days. I'm currently on day 32. I took a home pregnancy test with my morning urine and got a negative result. I have been experiencing very mild cramps mainly on my right side (mine are normally strong and felt in my legs), frequent urination, bloating, indigestion, and dizziness, which are all unusual for me. My husband and I have sex regularly and only use the pull out method. Could I still be pregnant?

Brief Answer:
Pregnancy, hormonal disturbances or stress

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Delayed periods can be due to pregnancy or any hormonal disturbances like hypothyroidism, hyperprolactemia or polycystic ovarian disease or due to stress.
Unprotected intercourse can lead to pregnancy. Moreover, pull out method( coitus interruptus ) has a very high failure rate in contraception, and hence pregnancy can occur.
Sometimes, the ovulation is delayed in the menstrual cycle, hence the conception is delayed and therefore the urine pregnancy test comes positive a bit delayed.
Cramps in right lower abdomen can be due to pregnancy, however ectopic pregnancy should be ruled out.
Dizziness, bloating, frequent urination are symptoms present in early pregnancy, however they are not confirmatory and can be found in other conditions also.
I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined and investigated to rule out ectopic pregnancy, and get appropriate treatment.
If ectopic pregnancy is ruled out, I would suggest you to repeat your urine pregnancy test after1 week, if still negative, then you should get your hormonal profile and ultrasound done to confirm the diagnosis.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.

Thank you! Are there any different signs or symptoms for an ectopic pregnancy? I have an appointment with my doctor Tuesday, but playing the waiting game has made me nervous.

Brief Answer:
Ectopic pregnancy only a possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX thanks for responding. Ectopic pregnancy has symptoms of early pregnancy along with pain in either side of lower abdomen, fainting attacks and spotting.
I would suggest you to keep a watch on these symptoms, if appear especially fainting attack or spotting or severe pain in lower abdomen, then immediately consult an OBGYN specialist. Otherwise, you can very well wait till Tuesday for your scheduled appointment.
I suggest you not to worry, as ectopic pregnancy is only a possibility and not yet confirmed.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
