What Causes Delayed Period Inspite Of Being On Xyzal?

Question: Hello Doctor

My self XXXXXXX I am trying to conceive from the last four months but could not conceive till now and in last month in XXXXXXX 2015, I suffered from skin allergies. I contacted skin specialist in Apollo hospital. He gave me medicine XYZAL for one month.I am taking one xyzal tablet every day. but due to my last illness I could not get menstruation in Feb month.my period is getting delay for last 16 days. I want to know whether this is side effect of xyzal tablet.

Because of my delayed period one gyanc suggested me to take meprate tablet for 5 days to get period. Please help me what should I do. Shall I take meprate tablet to get period.

I can understand your concern here.

Xyzal can cause delay in your menses but it is not very common side effect.

You can take meprate to cause withdrawal bleeding (as your doctor suggested).

In my opinion you can await for one more week for your menses because illness, stress and medicine can cause delayed menses.

Thanks for replying.
Doctor has recommended me to take xyzal tablet for 1 month.Till now I have taken it for 10 days and need to continue for next 20 days more.
My ovulation calculation and mensuration cycle everything is disturbed because of illness.
How to track date that I am ovulating and need to have intercourse for conceiving?
I was thinking to purchase clearblue ovulation detector kit but I don't know whether it is worth to purchase.
please suggest.

Sorry for the long delay in my response.

Yes, you can use ovulation kit to see for ovulation.

As such, in a 28 day cycle ovulation occurs 14 days before your expected period date but as you said your cycles are disturbed, you can use the kit.

You can go for sexual intercourse around your most fertile day that is before and after ovulation.

You can begin taking folic acid tablet, do some yoga and walk, take healthy and balanced diet and do not take stress, it is also helpful to you in conceiving fast.

Dear Doctor

Thanks for advice.I have taken two dosage of Meprate. one on 21st feb and another on 22feb and on 23rd I got period. Is it required to take any tablet further?
My consulting doctor had told me that i need to take five tablet one everyday after this period will come but my menses started in just two tablet so I am worried whether there is any need three more tablet or I can stop taking tablet here.

In my opinion you should complete the course and take rest of the three doses or you can take opinion from your treating doctor.

Meprate is a hormone called medroxyprogesterone and they should be taken as prescribed and not stop in the middle of the course.
