Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Numbness on fingers with history of stroke 5 years ago make it not to worry but vigilant enough to keep an eye on the symptoms whether they improve or not. Once a person get stroked, he is prone to have recurrent one. If you are compliant with the prophylactic measures like platelet lowering agents, low dose aspirins , lipid lowering agents, keeping cholesterol and saturated fats to the minimum, avoiding tobacco and alcohol etc, keeping an healthy weight, control diabetes and blood pressure if there, exercising regularly , treating sleep apnea etc and have regular follow ups , then that is all you need to do.

Numbness at age of 63 is very common and could merely be the age related neuropathies which need symptomatic care only with neurotonic like B complex vitamins and some pain relivers would be sufficient.

Having said that, i would still like you to get evaluated for this numbness and heaviness on the side previously had stroke to rule out any recurrence or TIA or any other etiology which are many from metabolic, age related, vascular or joints related and vertebrae related. Talk to your doctor and let them have a look just to be on the safer road.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Regards
Khan
