What Causes Painful Red Bump On Nipple And Forehead?

Questions:
1. Given it's painful, movable(per the doctor) and reduced size a bit on the nipple, had gazillions of tests last month as physical health-checkup and everything was normal..Can I put my mind to rest that this is not something serious?. Please describe a bit what this could be as my mind is creating all bad thoughts.
2. Do I need to take antibiotics as doctor prescribed me some, but told me its my wish?.
3. Do I still put hot things there on nipple as it got red after yesterday night's hot things I put there?.
4. Do I still insist my doctor to pursue more tests(have done various tests - cbc, esr and what not last month only), but its reduced size a bit from yesterday..So, am thinking if there is something serious, it won't reduce size.?
5. Can we get a pimple on nipple too?

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM.
The answers for your questions are as follows-
1. A painful, XXXXXXX superficial bump is most commonly due to superficial infection of the skin and its appendages. I think they may be due to infected sebaceous gland or sweat gland. These conditions are not serious. Hot compress is useful in these conditions and you can continue with the same treatment. I don't think oral antibiotic treatment is needed right now. But, if the swelling increases in size or the local area becomes tense with or without oozing pus, the condition would need surgical attention. So, you can easily relax and need not be anxious.
2. Oral Antibiotic treatment is not necessary right now.
3. Please continue with warm compress.
4. As you are having multiple soft tissue infection a few blood tests should be done-
Complete blood count, Urea, Creatinine, LFT, ESR
5. Pimples are nothing but the superficial sebaceous gland infections, as I explained earlier.

Questions:
1. Do I need to repeat these again?. I have done these tests 2-3 times in the last 6 months.
2. Could this be hormonal as well?. It seems like when I am abstinent from sex for a bit, it seems like these infections flair up.
3. Based on the history and tests, I can relax right without any thoughts?
Thanks a lot for your time.

Detailed Answer:
1. I don't think you need to repeat those tests again.
2. Excess androgen does cause acne. But, that is not due to abstinence from sexual activity. That is not of much concern too.
3. Yes, you need not be anxious at all. Please continue with the current treatment as I mentioned and please report if there are any warning signs, like fever, excessively tender, swollen, increasing bump. These are signs of spreading of infection and abscess.
Otherwise, you can relax.
