What Causes Painful Swelling In The Right Side Of Inner Labia?
Question: The right side of my inner labia has been swollen and very painful for over 6 weeks, there is also a blister located above the swelling that is even more painful, I thought it could be a friction blister. The blister got so swollen that it opened and has been bleeding for 2 days. The enflamed swelling has also transferred over to the left side now so the 2 parts rub together causing much more pain. Any suggestions on what to do?
Brief Answer:
Bartholins gland inflammation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Such symptoms are very characteristic for Bartholines gland inflammation. In the area mentioned by you (on both sides) special vaginal gland called Bartholins gland has its entrance. Once the entrance is obstructed or the gland infected (or both), the pus appears inside it. This result with kind of painful swelling or lump.
The best treatment of this condition is gland incision and drainage. I suggest you to consult gynecologist and do not wait with it. It wont go away without medical intervention.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
