What Causes Swelling Between Eye And Nasal Bridge?

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Aug 2015
Question: Hello, My almost-four-year-old daughter has developed swelling between her right eye and the nasal bridge, slightly above eye. The swelling seems to have come on suddenly this afternoon. Aside from the swelling there is no discoloration of the eyes or the skin, and no signs of bites or other trauma. She is acting normally, has no fever, and no discharge from the eye. She says she can see ok. Do you have any advice?

Brief Answer:
Please attach an image and better get her clinically evaluated

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The swelling at inner side of eye can be due to blockage or infection of the tear duct, infection of tear producing gland, infection of sweat gland, any allergic reaction or infection of eye lashes.
Painless and sudden swelling without any redness of eyes goes more in favor of blockage of tear duct or enlargement of sweat gland or incidental detection of any previous chalazion(chronic infection.
I won't get overly worried as there is no blurring of vision,no pain,no watering or redness of eye.

I request you to attach an image so that I better able to help you out or better get her clinically evaluated by an ophthalmologist for proper diagnosis.

Regards

It appears to be blockage/infection of lacrimal duct

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for follow up

I have gone through the image. To me it appears to be blockage/infection of lacrimal duct leading to swelling.
I request you to get him clinically evaluated by an ophthalmologist for confirmation of the diagnosis.
