What Causes Thyroid Abnormalities?

Question: My whole body mult findings ... Abnormal activity is present at the thyroid bed. No abnormal activity is identified outside of the thyroid bed. No evidence of distant metastatic disease.
What could be the abnormal activity?

Thanks for your query.

This most likely suggests remnant thyroid tissue after surgery, which has now taken up the radio iodine. However, this is most likely part of normal thyroid gland.

Hopefully, it will be taken care of by the radio-iodine therapy. However, if this persists on followup scans, coupled with detectable thyroglobulin in blood, it may necessitate re-ablation with radio iodine.
