What Does This Chest X-ray Report Indicate?
Question: This is for my son who is incarcerated in Illinois State Prison. As you know this state is broke and healthcare in Mt. XXXXXXX IL prison is HORRIBLE. i an seeing my own doctor (for myself) on 01-17-2017 and will ask if he can help. My son has had constant pain behind his right lung for years. Two years ago, a hospital did an x-ray of his lung. This is probably due to an accident many years ago and was diagnosed as a contusion. The lung is not the problem and he has a horrible medical staff there that won't do anything for him. By the way, when he presses in that area, he just about passes out. Please give me a guess if nothing else as to what may cause this, besides neglect and incompetence from the state. Thank you
Did I mention that it is a mass that moves when my son presses on it trying to figure out exactly what could be the problem. The report on my son at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, IL said "HISTORY: Abnormal chest x-ray"; the TECHNIQUE: " Axial images of the chest were obtained during intravenous injection of 80mL, of Omnipaque-300; "COMPARISON: "None";
'FINDINGS: Right hemidiaphragm is elevated. Linear densities are seen in the right lung base due to chronic atelectasis and fibrosis. No Abnormal discrete nodules or masses in the lung parenchyma. No hilar or mediastinal lymphadenopathy. No consolidation or effusion. Both suprarenal are unremarkable. Suggestion of horseshoe kidney partially. IMPRESSION: "No consolidation or effusion. Both supra renal are unremarkable." This information has been quoted from their report. What is given as a non-disclosure is "Unsigned transcriptions represent a preliminary report and do not reflect corrections additions, and/or subtractions to the information contained in this report. Now that I've given you this information, plus the fact that my son is in a Illinois State Prison with almost NO money with which to medically treat inmates. Also inmates have died because the facility won't admit to anything being wrong with them. There are many lawsuits against Western Correctional Facility. I really had hoped that given (again) the impossiblity to get real medical care there, he can't just go out and get another x-ray. Will this additional information make you want to think and give a little more than you have?

Brief Answer:
Mass like thing is not correlated with chest x ray report.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
Sorry for late reply as I was busy.
He was feeling mass like thing.
Chest x ray is not showing anything like this.
So this mass like thing is not correlated with chest x ray findings.
Chest x ray findings are suggestive of old healed lesions.
This can not cause pain and mass like thing.
If he feels mass like thing then local part ultrasound or CT thorax will be more informative.
Simple painkiller, local application of warm water pad or ice packs are good for Symptomatic relief.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
