Both of these medications are used to help with prostate symptoms. Usually symptoms of prostate disease are worse at night.
The tamsulosin helps to relax the prostate and therefore helps with urine flow. The dutasteride prevents the prostate from getting larger and may help to shrink the size.
Possible side effects of tamsulosin are dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, headache, decreased semen, back pain. These effects may not occur in everyone
Possible side effects of dutasteride are decreased semen, decreased libido, ed. These effects also do not occur with everyone and may also decrease with as the medication is continued.
To reduce the symptoms at night, you may want to stop drinking any liquids at least 2 hours before you would normally go to bed.
