4 Year Child, Suffering From Headache, Fever, Irritable In Nature. Taking Tylenol. What Should Be Done?
My 4 year old developed a fever that at its high was 104.1 and is complaining of a headache. The fever and headache are just from today and he is responding to Tylenol, which brings it down to about 100. He also says he sees shadows from the light coming through the windows. He has just fallen asleep and has been very irritable from it today. I'm not sure at what point you take a child to the doctor for a fever...ie how high to let it go to.
With that high of a fever I suggest you take her in to be examined. It could be a virus but with her vision problems and the fact that kids his age not being able to tell you exactly what hurts (throat, chest, etc) it would be best to have a doctor take a look at him now. The fever is never harmful but rather a sign of some underlying infection and the cause of the fever is the important thing.
Please monitor for danger signs. The danger signs are 1. Poor feeding or repeated vomiting. 2. Lethargy. 3. Loss of consciousness. 4. Fits or seizures.
Any child with fever and any of these danger signs should be taken to the doctor immediately. Since you are saying that your child is irritable I suggest you to take him to the doctor at the earliest. Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps. Take care. When fever is accompanied with symptoms like headache or visual problems, such as the ones your son is having, there should be no delay in going to his doctor. Please take him right away as these are not the usual accompaniments of fever. The height of fever has nothing to do with the reason for going to the doctor, but the other symptoms do.
I understand your condition. The first thing i would like to tell you that its good you are using the medication to lower down the fever and headache. However you will also need to consult your family doctor as the doctor can properly diagnose the child and prescribe appropriate medication. I would advise to take your child to a doctor at the earliest.

4 Year Child, Suffering From Headache, Fever, Irritable In Nature. Taking Tylenol. What Should Be Done?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Your child seems having an episode of viral fever. Give Tylenol in prescribed dose every 6th hourly depending on the presence of fever. If there is high grade fever, do tepid sponging with lukewarm water to decrease the body temperature. Give plenty of oral fluids to maintain his hydration. Monitor his temperature, activity, and hydration status. Consult the doctor for physical examination and to look for the focus of infection and treatment. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
