hello and welcome to HCM,
I am Dr Sriram Nathan an ENT surgeon who will try to help you out with your problem.
At the offset let me assure you that it may just be an reflux or a mild recovering infection which you are suffering from. The pain and the
sore throat may be due to infection or due to reflux which in turn can be due to stress and medication.
Do not worry as it is very common and will get better in a week or two. The throat will definitely feel raw when you have infection and reflux so do not worry.
Even when you have
salivary gland stone you can have these problems.
In any case you need to relax and do these immediately:
-Start an anti reflux tablet like
pantoprazole along with a
multivitamin like the zincovit. These will help your throat to be resistant to irritation and also keep the reflux under check. Your doctor will know about these medications.
-take plenty of water and hydrate yourself very well as stones occur due to
dehydration.
-suck on fruits such as lemon which can lubricate the saliva
-Take salt water gargle with warm water at least twice a day.
-Avoid anything spicy, oily or high flavoured
-Unless you do not have
severe pain or other symptoms you do not need to take antibiotics or pain killers. Since throat does your sinus and ear hurt you can take a pain killer like
paracetamol in consultation with your doctor.
-Take only bland non oily and non spicy diet with lots of green leafy vegetables for the next one week
Wait for a week or two for these to work and if your problem does not become better then you must take an endoscopy of the upper GI get back to me or any ENT surgeon with the reports.
Take care and get well soon
regards
Dr Sriram Nathan
