Hi doc,I m 44 yrs old lady. I had been having irregular periods since Jan 2011. On conducting an ultrasound examination in march, had found that, I had 15mm of thick endometrial lining. My gynaecologist suggested that, I get Mirena (intrauterine system) inserted to thin out my endometrial lining, which I did. He forewarned me that, my bleeding will settle down in 3 mnths, which has settled down. My question is that, should I repeat an ultrasound to check my endometrial lining? or Hysterectomy is the answer to my problemto avoid problems related to cancer in future. I have undergone an abdominal surgery to remove my ovary with cyst 18 yrs ago & one keyhole surgery for PCOS & one surgery for opening of my fallopian tube in the past. Pls advice. Jyoti Thakur
