All Four Wisdom Teeth Partially Erupted. Now Left Teeth Is Causing Problem. Untouched Because Of The Nerve Near It. Swollen. Treatment?

HI I have all four wisdom teeth partially erupted and are almost straight except for the lower left which is growing forwards and to the left pressing against the side of my cheek. I never even noticed the upper ones coming through except for a little pain when they broke the gums but the lower ones have hurt on / off for about 5 years. The right one has been OK for months but the left (that is growing abnormally) is causing problems. I got an oral surgeon to look at it 3 years ago and he recommended leaving it as the nerve is too near it's roots and will probably be damaged. Overnight the pain has got worse and my face is swollen like a gold ball and there is a rancid smell from the tooth and a bad taste. I cant see the dentist for a few days. Can I wait or should I go to hospital?

Hello,
The symptoms are usually associated with impacted wisdom tooth.
Based on the x-ray and clinical evaluation, teeth has to be either extracted or flap overlying tooth has to be removed to enhance tooth eruption.
Take complete course of antibiotics-analgesics.
Meanwhile gargle frequently with warm saline or betadine.
Maintain oral hygiene well.
Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

All the above mentioned symptoms occurs due to errupting or impacted wisdom tooth. Visit to an Oral surgeon and get an chekup done, take an OPG radiograph of the affected region.
Plan for the removal of the tooth, if not then the overlying flap can be removed.
Take a complete course of antibiotics and analgesics under prescription of your Dentist.
At home take lukewarm saline and antispetic mouthwash rinses.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.

Hello,

Thanks for choosing HCM,

All the symptoms that you have mentioned indicates pericoronitis related to your wisdom tooth...

Due to lack of space the tooth is not able to erupt properly...resulted inflammation and swelling...

Proper x-ray is required to see the position of the tooth...if its in unfavourable position then you have to go for extraction..otherwise operculectomy...

Take proper course of antibiotic and analgesic according to prescription...

Do warm saline rinses 7-8times/day

You can apply metrogyl gel locally to get relief...

Don't apply any hot fomentation from outside...

Don't take any hot, spicy food with that side...

Consult with Dentist...

Wish you good health....

hi...
thanks for the query...
well.. the only option for lower left wisdom tooth is extraction...
for time being do warm saline rinses 6-7 times per day... take proper course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs... if possible visit dentist to get the affected area irrigated and cleaned up...
before going for extraction, go for proper clinical and radiographic examination of all impacted teeth... consult any oral surgeon...
if sufficient space seems to be available for teeth to erupt... then allow them to do so... operculectomy can be performed over them...
if space doesn't seems to be available, go for its extraction...
hope it will help you...
take care...

all this for 5 days
plus go for luke warm saline rinses for 6-8 times daily
and apply some gum paint or hexigel to the affected area
