I was wondering if anyone had an idea what a classmate of mine is suffering from. She chronically has to clear her throat. She will do it every 5-10 seconds. She says she can breath fine, but does it because she feels like there is something in her throat. She says season changes and rain cause her to clear her throat more often than other times of the year, though she will still do it constantly. She is 37-years-old and stated to me that it started in 2004. She said one possible reason for it may be her high usage of chalk on a blackboard that year. She came to the country a month ago from South Africa and told me she saw two doctors there for this issue. She was given medications that did nothing. She was advised to try steam to help alleviate the symptoms, but this did very little for her. She said one doctor mentioned to her that an x-ray showed her sinuses being "full", especially on the left side. Though I believe she mentioned they are clear now. She also says that the lining of her throat shows to be not smooth and has small holes... She tells me after six years, she is still very uncomfortable clearing her throat all the time and is not used to the feeling that there is something in her throat. My motivation is to help find someone or something to help her so she can be more comfortable and also so our classroom can be a little more quiet :) Thank you for reading. Sincerely, Courtney
