Are Headaches After Head Injury Signs Of Concussion?
I hit my head on a hard root that was in the ground when playing football yesterday. I just got a headache about 20 hours after the hit but wasn t showing symptoms of a concussion yesterday that I know of. I m just checking to see if a headache this long after the incident is a sign of a concussion
I can understand your concern. Let me explain you "concussion". It is a type of blunt head injury which cause momentary loss of consciousness, sometimes memory deficit for incident. It can cause headache for few days, irritability, memory problem. Patient usually recovers on its own in few days to months.
Now coming to your injury, it may be concussion or normal head injury. You can relate your findings and reach on to some conclusion. Both can be managed by : Taking painkiller like Diclofenac sodium for pain relief : Take some rest : Apply icepacks at injury site to relieve pain and swelling If still no relief, you should consult doctor. He will examine you and might advise some investigation like CT scan of head to rule out fracture or bleed.
Thanks. Hope it will help you. Take care.
