Being Type II Diabetic, Can Insulin Lead To Delay In Periods Or Pregnancy?

Hello Dr, My issue is me and my partner are currently trying for a baby. Since 2 months ago when we started trying to conceive both of my menstrual cycles have been delayed. I am a type 2 diabetic and already have one daughter. My period is now 5 days delayed and I took a test 2 days ago and it was negative. I know I am not pregnant . I just wanted to know could it be the insulin That i have started to take the same month we started trying.

It is unlikely that insulin would cause a delay in the menses. It is not a known side effect of this medicine.

In fact, insulin is one of the common medicines given to ladies who are pregnant. And remains one of the best modalities of treatment of diabetes.

However, since you have type 2 diabetes, you could meet your diabetologist, and discuss trying oral hypoglycemic agents (tablets)
