You have apparently developed secondary bacterial infection, due to intrusion of bacteria into the deeper tissues, through the breached skin. The infection has now spread into the surrounding tissues, along with swelling within the infected area. Perhaps,
cellulitis has already developed.
A course of suitable antibiotics + anti-inflammatory drugs will heal the infection.
The
numbness is either due to associated
nerve injury or, nerve compression due to increased pressure in the infected area.
