Can ALT Levels Go High Inspite Of Taking Hep B And C Injections?
Hi Dr i have just gone to fetch my blood test results from the Dr as i was recently treated for discoid lupus on the head and they wanted to see if it had spread. everything came back fine other than my ALT which read 66 and the normal was 10-50. The Dr said it could be virul or hepatitis so i have to repeat the test in a months time.
I have had the HEP B and C ijection so does this mean i could still have this? what is the worst case scenario?
An increase in ALT levels alone is unlikely to be due to viral hepatitis. Viral hepatitis leads to the elevation of both ALT and AST. Other liver function tests also need to be done. In case all other liver function tests are within the normal range, there is nothing much to worry about.
As you have mentioned that you are taking medication for discoid lupus, it could be a cause of elevated ALT. However, the best thing is to wait for a month and get the test repeated and get back with your reports.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
