Can Iron Pills Be Taken To Re-start Menstrual Cycle?

I have been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about 9 months. for the past three or four cycles I have gotten my period, complete with bleeding and cramps, about two weeks before I was scheduled to take the iron pills. I just got my period this week and I have had awful cramps while still taking the white hormone pills, and I don't want to get another period in two weeks. What should I do? Is it okay for me to just take the iron pills this week and re-start my cycle?
