Can Penicillin Be Taken For Suspected Throat Infection?
Hello My Doctor prescribed me to penicillin because she thinks i have strep throat but we are still waiting on the mono test and im worried about a reaction if i have mono instead, should i take the penicillin today or wait until tomorrow when the mono test comes back?

I agree with you on the fact that if your blood lab tests are suggestive of mononucleosis, you should wait until having the mono test results. Have you performed a throat swab test (bacterial culture) for strep infection? I would not recommend staring penicillin before the above tests.
