Can Alcohol Worsen Back Pain Due To Degenerative Disc Disease?

Can alcohol worsen the pain if degenerative disk disease. I have it between my L5 S1. I ve been in pain for 2 months now. I enjoy evening cocktails with friends and family over the summer. Now school starting I have not been drinking and the pain has lessened. Any connection and why?

Small amounts of alcohol don't cause any harm.

However, moderate amounts may increase the pain mainly due to muscular fatigue.
