Hi I am 26 years old and am approximately 5 3. I weigh roughly 115 lbs. I am anemic, with very little medical history. I had a benign tumor removed from my right breast at the age of 15 and no recurrences with this issue since. I have had one full term pregnancy. My main concern today is a very sharp and sudden onset pain only occurring on the left side of my neck. Specifically in the area just below the jaw line and more towards the middle rather than the side or back of the neck. The pain is erratic, comes and goes at different times but usually within a few minutes of each other. I have just recently started a pill form birth control called Ortho Cyclen. I have read up on the common side effects and less common side effect but don t seem to connect any of those symptoms with mine. I am just wondering is there any concern for a blood clot. I am a full time smoker about a pack a day, and have been smoking for around 10 years. I just started the birth control 12 days ago. Should I be concerned at all and if not a probable cause of the birth control what other explanations for this could there be? Muscle spasm? Pinched nerve? and should I seek any medical attention? Thank you for your help in advance.

Can Birth Control Pills Cause Sudden Neck Pain?
Hello, As per most of the studies, birth control pills will not cause neck pain. You can take tab. Ibuprofen for pain and apply diclofenac gel locally. Avoid long time sitting or computer work. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
