Can I Go Without Medication For A Month And 1/2 With A Great Diet For Low Blood Pressure?

Seems like my new doc is trying to get me on meds. I haven't changed my diet but started working out again with a trainer. My blood pressure has gone down but last blood test showed 172 LDL 44 HDL and 117 TRI. My last blood pressure test was 128/80. Assuming a bad diet, can I go without meds for a month and 1/2 with a great diet and try or am I taking a big risk? Thanks

Hello!
Thanks for your query.
Many foods and dietary factors affect blood pressure.
Studies show a high-sodium diet increases blood pressure in some people.
In fact, some studies show that the less sodium you eat, the better blood pressure control you might have, even if you're taking blood pressure medications.
Research has shown reduced risk of coronary artery disease and stroke who followed the diet for several years.
Yes you can try with the diet if the blood pressure and lipids are in that level that you refer.
Take care of your self

General & Family Physician Dr. Polash Sannigrahi's  Response
Hello dear,

As per the investigation reports mentioned in your post, the LDL level is on the higher side.
For this, you need to incorporate low saturated fats in your diet plan.
It is appreciable to know that you have started working out with a trainer.
The result is evident as your blood pressure is getting optimised.

So, it will be advisable to take care of your dietary habits & continue regular exercise.
And repeat the lipid profile test after 30 days.
If normal levels are achieved with Diet & Lifestyle measures only, then there is no need to start medications.

Wishing you a Good Health.
Take care.
