Can Intake Of Drugs Show Up In The Test Report?

Good afternoon Dr.Samuel. This question I have is very simple. I was just curious about an MRI test. Onre of my close frirends will be having one in a few days. My question is if any type of weed that was consumed by the patient will somehow show in the results. Can it show up in the test results?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Smoking weed before an MRI will never show up in the results. The effects of long term weed smoking might be seen on the scan though. There should be no reason to worry about results of MRI being affected due to taking weed before the scan. However the patient may have discomfort in lying on the couch if he is under influence of weed as any amount of motion during scan is undesirable.
