Can Pregnancy Still Happen After Having Birth Control Pills?

About a week ago my girlfriend and I had sex without a condom. We decided to do this because she's on birth control and thought it would be ok. A couple days later we find out that a new medication she is taking may lower the effectiveness of her birth control medicine. I'm just curious as to the likelihood that she would be pregnant. When we had sex she was on day 9 of her cycle and I pulled out before I came. She is a little worried that perhaps when we took a shower that some sperm may have gotten inside her.

Just recently she stopped taking both medicines in hopes that going off the BC, she would get her period, which she said normally happens about 2 days after she goes off. Today is the 2nd day and she has not gotten her period yet but just a bit of cramping. Any help would be appreciated.
