Can U Suggest A Cream For Dry Itchy & Cracked Vaginal Skin?
I have been having vaginal dryness, itching, cracked skin, with bleeding for several years. I have been given estrogen creams , pills, none of which have done no good whatsoever. Drs always check for infection, but never find any infection. I had a hysterectomy at the age of 34 years, leaving one ovary. I am trying to manage the pain with over the counter vaginal creams and lotions, none of which give much relief. Can you tell me what might be wrong? Doris Bishop
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of Vaginal pruritus, my treatment advice is: 1. Do not scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply an antifungal cream like Clotrimazole cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral Fluconazole, Itraconazole, and Terbinafine are taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
