hi my 8 and half month baby girl has a small lumb on her side. she had an ultrasound and its diagnosed as limpoma....my question is how can you just tell that with ultrasound?? shouldn't the doctor need to take a biopsy to make sure its not something serious???
There are some criteria to diagnose any pathology.
Like - depends on location of the pathology, relation of the mass with adjacent anatomical structures, underlying infection / inflammatory causes. All these can narrow down the most possible cause.
Yes you are right, definitive diagnosis is always a biopsy from the lesion. So request for sample - if location and baby health supports.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
