Chest Discomfort, Lagging Pulse. Feeling Pulse In Neck

So every now and again, normally on full exhale of breath, my hear will feel like it flips in my chest (not painful, just weird feeling) and if I feel the pulse in my neck while this happens, My pulse stops and/or lags for approximately a half of a second. For instance, say you felt a beat every 1/4 of a second, well, when this happens, you won t feel another for an addition half of a second. I don t know what this is, and over the last year or so it has become more frequent. And if it helps, I am pretty active every day. I m a Mechanic and constantly working full time

Dear patient,

Thanks for the concern. This may actually be a completely normal response called sinus arrhythmia, in which the regular contraction of the heart varies slightly with a more prolonged pause related to breathing. As long as you don't have other concerning symptoms such as sustained palpitations, chest pressure, lightheadedness, etc, I would not worry excessively.
