Child Have Swelling With A Large Knot In The Leg. Had A Fall Earlier. Is This A Serious Issue To Be Concerned?

My son fell while running up some stairs on playground equipment on Tuesday and hurt his leg (hit the shin on the edge of one of the steps). No swelling in the area the rest of the day... but today it has a very large knot and is hard and warm/ hot to the touch. Is this normal? It also has bruising and he says that it does not hurt when pushed on or touched.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Does he have any restriction of movement? Is there any abnormal sound when he moves? Does he have any fever? One thing that is reassuring is he does not have pain when touched. But I suggest you should see your doctor once in view of the local rise of temperature.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
