Child Having Restless Legs. Have Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Will Cutting Caffeine Help Restless Leg?

Hello, my 6 year old son has restless legs. We did the sleep study and the Pulmonologist said that he is more worried about his oxygen levels dropping because he as obstructive sleep apnea because his airway is small. Age will fix it. He said that cutting out all caffine will rid the restless legs. Do you agree? If not please help me locate a pediatric neurologist that can help with the rls. He starts school in a couple of weeks and I don't want him to get behind.

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

If obstructive sleep apnoea has been diagnosed than an evaluation by an ENT doctor shall tell us about the air passages and whether they are responsible for the apnoea.

It is always better to cut down the caffeine. You can reduce it and observe if there is improvement in the restless legs. If there is improvement than you can cut down the caffeine for good.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son all the best.
