Child Holds Stools For Days, Bleeding When Passing Stools. How To Help Him
Im having trouble getting my six year old to evacuate his bowels. He holds them for days and then when he finally goes, theyre extremely large and when he wipes, there is significant amounts of blood . He has been doing this for a month now which has caused him to have really soiled underwear ..hes now afraid to poop because they hurt him. Im very worried about him and want to know how to help him...
hello,,,
What you mentioned above is seems as Encopresis.
Note:
Mild Laxative,
Offer age-appropriate positive reinforcement for developing regular toilet habits
Plenty of water
Proper and Regular Diet(Break fast/ lunch/Snacks/Dinner)
Diet contain High Fiber (whole grain, Fruits, Vegetables etc)
Proper counseling
Toilet Training
Encourage to your child to spend more time in toilet.
Encourage for defecation after each meals.
conservative approach is needed for your child which include measure which will soften the stool and good toilet training and family support. your child should take high fibre containig diet (green leafy vagitables, whole grains etc ) drink lot of water avoid fast food. if these measure is not helpful start mild laxative like lactulose . child should be relaxed during toilet and spend adequate time in toilet. take good care of nutrition of child chronic blood loss might cause iron defficiency.
if these measure is not helpful kindly take good surgery openion
