Child With Blood In Diarrhoea Has Low Appetite And Fever, Sore Neck And Knees Lethargic. Solution?

hi my 3 yr old daughter has not been well over a week now i took her to hosp because she had blood in diarrohea they done bloodtests on her she hasnt eating in a week not drinking much fluids and now has flu her temp has been 38.5 she,s also complaing of sore neck and knees very lethargic im really concerned should i take her back to hospital ?

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Blood in the stool indicates dysentry and the child should be started on antibiotics.

Along with them probiotics may also be required.

If there are any signs of dehydrations because of diarrhea that should also be treated.

Monitor for signs of dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5. Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.
