good day. my adoptive son from ET is hypoglycemic. he stares and vries when sugars drop. he usually sleeps very little at night. but for the past 2 days he s been falling asleep for the night before 5pm. he slept-walked last night (fairly common for him to talk in his sleep and appear awake) and was irritated. he wasn t hungry right b4 falling asleep tonight. if this continues for another day, should i do something? ps: his brother has pneumonia . thanks
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Hypoglycemia is not a common in children in healthy children.
It should be evaluated for any hormonal imbalance and rare disorders of glycogen storage disorders.
Malnutrition and prolonged starvation may cause hypoglycemia, but recurrent hypoglycemia has to be evaluated further for any hormonal, storage, and for other reasons.
Give him a high carbohydrate diet and keep chocolate or sugar available with the child.
So consult your Pediatrician as early as possible for evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query.
