Could Ingrown Hair In Groin Area Be Due To Cellulitis And Can Penicillin Be Used For The Treatment?

Hi, i often suffer fron ingrown hairs in my groin area from shaving, however over the last couple of days i have developed one which is much bigger, very red and sore, the redness is now tracking, i just wondered if this could be cellulitis and will penicillin be ok to treat it? thanks

From your description, it seems that the ingrown hairs have got infected resulting in a furuncle/ abscess. Yes , you could use penicillin group of antibiotic like cloxacillin to treat the same.
