Culture Report Showing Pseudomonas Infection. Taking Antibiotics. Family History Of Leukemia. Worried

Is it unusual for an 18 year old to have a pseudomonas throat culture. He has been on 2 different antibiotics. Finally the last culture grew out pseudomonas. Could this mean he is immune suppressed. Initially had flu symptoms, sinusitis and fever but that got better after 3 to4 days. Just sore throat continues for 2 weeks. Finally they called with the culture and put him on Cipro for 10 days. He is a normal 18 yo that plays sports and is very active. Should I be over concerned. Leukemia runs in my husbands family and I always get paranoid about my children when they have something unusual.

Hi and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your query.
Pseudomonas infections is usually found as nosocomial infection in patients in hospital. SO you have to check was your child in contact with someone who was in hospital in kast few months. His immune system must be verified by WBc count and other specific tests but i dont think leukemia is the first think diagnosis to think of. SO he should be cured for sure after antibiotic treatment. WIsh you good health.
