Cyst Or Knot In Finger, Feels Like Going To Burst. Had Spinal Fusion Surgery. What Could Be This?

i have a cyst or knot on my pinky finger, been there for about three weeks sometimes hard and feels like it is going to burst. had spinal fusion surgery on feb 27, 2013. wanted to know if it has something to do with that. work in a hospital asked several PA'S and know one seems to know. will visit the emergency room when my shift is up, just curious to know what it could be. thank you

Thanks for writing in.

Please do not worry. Your knot on pinky finger has nothing to do with your spinal fusion surgery.

It might be a ganglion cyst and you may take consultation for a orthopedic surgeon. It is not usually seen on X ray. An ultrasound scan of your finger will confirm it. It is a totally benign condition. However other conditions need to be ruled out.
