Depressed, Sleep During Day, Cannot Concentrate, Back Pain. Problem?

Hi doctor,
I'm 20 years old male.. I'm always feeling lazy, sleepy, can't concentrate on anything, poor memory, it's like i don't care for anything & i'm not getting serious at anything including my studies(which results in poor grades).. i hate being like this.. i think i'm depressed.. A lot of things always run on my mind.. and i'm having a severe backpain.. i sleep late at night & sleep a lot in daytime.. i think i'm totally lost.. help me come out of this.. The main thing is i'm always lazy.. How can i be active.. i was not like this a year ago..

Hi,
You may be right that you are possibly depressed. However, severe back pain can be debilitating and should be treated. You do not mention whether you have had any treatment for your back pain. I would suggest you try paracetamol and ibuprofen for this.
For your other more general symptoms, it would be difficult to give specific advice in a communication such as this. I would suggest you need to talk through your problems face to face with someone. Your doctor may be able to make a start and possibly consider other professionals who may be able to help.
