Do You Have To Be 100 Pounds To Get Your First Period?
Is this True? ..Do you have to be 100 pounds to get your first period? I am 15 (and a half actually) and I haven't started my period. But I have heard that girls do not usually get it if they are under 100 pounds? I am around 90 pounds and just over 5 feet so just any ideas as to if it is only because of the weight or it could be something else? Thanks a lot .. :)
ok wow definitely did not expect this many answers in the first 5 minutes... anyway thanks guys, and to "genny"... NO, I am most certainly not anorexic or bulimic..!
:)
BMI matters, not actual weight. At 5ft. you should be 95-110 pounds, so 90 just means that your slightly under weight, but it shouldn't affect your period. More often than not it depends on your genes. When did your mom get her period? If your mom didn't get her period at the same age as you are, don't sweat it. I'm your age and have approximately the same BMI (between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 7 and I'm around 105) and I just got my period a few months ago (and only really had it twice), but my mom got hers when she was 12. Don't worry, you'll get it soon! If you don't get it by the time your 16 or 16 1/2, consult your doctor, but I'm sure you're fine. :)
figure which female in your family you resemble most. Then ask her when she got hers, your most likely to get aroung that time. i am 12, 5 ft 90lbs. and i got my period before my 14 year old.
